World’s Largest Lesson
Mobilising Educators for the Global Goals
The challenge
Turning global challenges into something young people can act on
Education has a critical role to play in creating a fairer, greener and healthier world. But complex global issues can be difficult to translate into learning that feels relevant, engaging and actionable for children and young people.
The challenge was to give educators the tools to bring the Global Goals into the classroom in a way that builds knowledge, skills and confidence to create change.
The idea
Make the Global Goals accessible to every classroom
World’s Largest Lesson is a free global learning programme that gives educators creative, ready-to-use resources for teaching the Sustainable Development Goals.
Through engaging lesson plans, activities and multimedia content, complex global issues are turned into accessible learning experiences that help young people understand the world around them and see the role they can play in changing it.
what happened
A global network of teachers became champions for the Goals
World’s Largest Lesson has grown into a global community of educators using its resources throughout the school year, supported by materials created around key moments including Global Goals Week and Earth Day.
Resources are available in more than seven languages and designed to be adaptable for classrooms around the world. Since 2024 alone, Global Goals Week toolkits have reached more than 8,700 classrooms, helping teachers move students from learning about global challenges to taking action on them.
