The challenge

Progress for women and girls is going backwards

Around the world, hard-won progress on gender equality is under pressure. With the Women Deliver conference bringing the global gender equality community together in Narrm (Melbourne), there was an opportunity to create a different kind of space alongside the formal programme.

A place where people could connect, share ideas and focus on the actions capable of accelerating progress for women and girls.

The idea

A new space for feminist ideas and action

Project Everyone created Studio 5, bringing strategy, creativity and community together in an intentionally designed space for gender equality.

Moving beyond the traditional conference format, Studio 5 created room for honest conversation, unexpected connections and new ideas, bringing together people working across some of the most urgent issues affecting women and girls.

what happened

Three days of conversation, connection and creativity

Across three days, Studio 5 hosted sharing circles, roundtables, intimate dinners, nightcaps and sound baths, bringing together feminist changemakers from around the world.

The programme explored everything from preventing gender-based violence and women’s health to First Nations knowledge, sexual violence, storytelling and self-care. Creativity was built into the experience, with the space and visual identity drawing inspiration from Australian landscapes and created in collaboration with First Nations and local partners.

We Can't stop at Almost

2025

The challenge

We’ve come too far to stop at almost

Since 2000, child mortality has been cut in half. But cuts to global health funding risk reversing decades of progress, with child deaths expected to rise for the first time this century.

The challenge was to bring global leaders, advocates, healthcare workers and innovators together around a simple message: extraordinary progress has been made, but the work is not finished.

The idea

Turn the data into a story of active hope

For the ninth year, Project Everyone partnered with the Gates Foundation to produce Goalkeepers during UN General Assembly week in New York.

Hosted by Olivia Wilde with musical co-host Jon Batiste, the show combined data, storytelling, music and live demonstrations to explore the innovations and people helping children survive and thrive. Rather than focus only on the scale of the challenge, the experience showed audiences the solutions already within reach.

what happened

The people behind progress took centre stage

Three immersive sets, a clinic, a child’s bedroom and a laboratory, took the audience through a child’s journey from pregnancy to their fifth birthday.

Researchers, doctors, healthcare workers and advocates demonstrated the tools and innovations saving children’s lives, while Project Everyone also helped shape a cohort of 10 Goalkeepers Champions from around the world.

The following day, a dedicated Champions Luncheon brought the group together to celebrate their work, build new connections and continue the conversation.

The challenge

Take the Global Goals to a truly global stage.

Expo 2020 Dubai brought together countries, cultures and ideas from around the world at a moment when communities were emerging from the disruption of the pandemic.

It created an opportunity to take Global Goals Week beyond New York for the first time and bring governments, businesses and citizens together around a shared question: how could the world accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals and build a fairer, greener future?

The idea

Make the Global Goals impossible to miss.

Working with Expo 2020 Dubai and the United Nations, Project Everyone helped bring Global Goals Week to life across the Expo site.

The Global Goals identity and World’s To Do List became a powerful visual thread throughout the week, including a spectacular projection onto the Al Wasl Dome, the world’s largest 360-degree projection surface, accompanied by a procession of SDG flags carried by Global Goals advocates.

EXPO 2020 Dubai

what happened

A week of action at the heart of Expo 2020.

From 15 to 22 January 2022, Global Goals Week brought together world leaders, policymakers, businesses, young people and changemakers to explore solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges.

Across the week, events including the Global Goals Business Forum and Global Best Practice Assembly explored climate action, gender equality, innovation and the role of business in delivering the Goals by 2030.

Year:
2017

The challenge

Millions of girls are still denied their basic freedoms.

Around the world, girls continue to face barriers that prevent them from reaching their full potential.

From access to education and child marriage to violence, FGM, HIV and human trafficking, the challenge was to put these issues in front of a global audience and demand renewed action from world leaders on International Day of the Girl.

The idea

Turn an anthem for freedom into a global call for girls’ rights.

Project Everyone partnered with UNICEF and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to create #FreedomForGirls, a global campaign built around Beyoncé’s song Freedom.

Working once again with director MJ Delaney, Project Everyone created a powerful film featuring girls from around the world singing defiantly to the track, interwoven with statistics revealing the scale of the challenges girls continue to face.

International Day of the Girl

what happened

Girls around the world raised their voices.

Launched on International Day of the Girl on 11 October 2017, the film connected audiences with organisations working directly on issues including education, child marriage, violence, FGM, HIV and modern slavery.

Act for Equal

Why we need to Act For Equal?

Theme:
Gender
Type:
Campaign / Communication
Partner:
UN Women
Location:

Year:
2021

The challenge

A generation of progress was at risk of stalling.

Twenty-five years after the Beijing Declaration set out a global blueprint for gender equality, women and girls were still facing discrimination, violence and barriers to opportunity around the world.

With the COVID-19 pandemic threatening to deepen existing inequalities, the challenge was to reignite public attention ahead of the Generation Equality Forum and build a new wave of support for urgent action.

The idea

Bring generations together to Act For Equal.

Working with UN Women, Project Everyone created #ActForEqual, a global, video-led campaign designed to mobilise young people, activists, leaders and influential voices around gender equality.

At its heart was Generations Together, a film bringing together people from different countries, generations and backgrounds to share why equality matters to them and invite audiences to answer one simple question: Why do we need to Act For Equal?

Act for Equal

what happened

A global conversation took off.

The campaign film brought together voices including Megan Rapinoe, Leymah Gbowee, Mary Robinson, Jazz Jennings, Winston Duke, Dr Denis Mukwege and young activists from around the world.

Launched across UN Women, Global Goals and partner channels ahead of the Generation Equality Forum in Paris, the film became the catalyst for a wider social campaign.

Project Everyone also partnered with TikTok UK, inviting creators and audiences to respond with their own reasons for acting for equality. The hashtag was featured on TikTok’s discovery page for a week, helping the campaign reach millions of people and generate hundreds of user-created videos.

Really Really Want

Marking 20 years of Girl Power for the SDGs

Theme:
Gender
Type:

Location:
Global
Year:
2016

The challenge

Girls around the world were still being denied equal opportunities.

Gender discrimination and unequal social norms continue to limit girls’ access to education, safety, independence and opportunity.

The challenge was to make gender equality feel urgent, accessible and culturally relevant, while giving girls and women around the world a platform to tell leaders what they really wanted to change.

The idea

Give Girl Power a new global purpose.

Twenty years after the release of the Spice Girls’ Wannabe, Project Everyone created #WhatIReallyReallyWant, a new film celebrating two decades of Girl Power while putting the voices of girls and women at its heart.

Featuring artists and performers from around the world, the film asked women and girls to share what they “really really want” world leaders to achieve for gender equality.

Really Really Want

what happened

A pop culture moment became a global movement.

The film featured artists including Gigi Lamayne, Moneoa, Seyi Shay, Jacqueline Fernandez, M.O, Taylor Hatala and Larsen Thompson, bringing together voices and talent from across the world.

The campaign quickly spread across Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, supported by influential figures including Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Melanie C, Emma Watson, Jamie Oliver and Richard Branson.

To mark the campaign finale, Project Everyone filled an iconic London double-decker bus with campaign messages, influencers, UNICEF ambassadors and student journalists before taking it through New York to Times Square for a live performance by dancers from the film.
