The challenge
We’ve come too far to stop at almost
Since 2000, child mortality has been cut in half. But cuts to global health funding risk reversing decades of progress, with child deaths expected to rise for the first time this century.
The challenge was to bring global leaders, advocates, healthcare workers and innovators together around a simple message: extraordinary progress has been made, but the work is not finished.
The idea
Turn the data into a story of active hope
For the ninth year, Project Everyone partnered with the Gates Foundation to produce Goalkeepers during UN General Assembly week in New York.
Hosted by Olivia Wilde with musical co-host Jon Batiste, the show combined data, storytelling, music and live demonstrations to explore the innovations and people helping children survive and thrive. Rather than focus only on the scale of the challenge, the experience showed audiences the solutions already within reach.
what happened
The people behind progress took centre stage
Three immersive sets, a clinic, a child’s bedroom and a laboratory, took the audience through a child’s journey from pregnancy to their fifth birthday.
Researchers, doctors, healthcare workers and advocates demonstrated the tools and innovations saving children’s lives, while Project Everyone also helped shape a cohort of 10 Goalkeepers Champions from around the world.
The following day, a dedicated Champions Luncheon brought the group together to celebrate their work, build new connections and continue the conversation.

The challenge
Half of the world’s children experience violence
Every year, one in two children globally are subjected to violence, from sexual abuse and bullying to child marriage, online harm, violent discipline and child labour.
Ahead of the first-ever Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children in Colombia, the challenge was to build pressure on world leaders to turn concern into meaningful policy and financial commitments that would make children safer.
The idea
Put the power to end violence in our hands
Working closely with the World Health Organization, Project Everyone created In Our Hands, a global campaign designed to complement policy and advocacy efforts and build public pressure ahead of the Ministerial Conference.
The campaign brought together survivors, advocates, young people, NGOs, experts and high-profile supporters around a simple message: we already have the knowledge and tools to end violence against children, now leaders need to act.
what happened
A global call for action reached leaders around the world
The campaign launched with a dedicated digital platform and toolkit, amplified by organisations across the sector.
Survivors, advocates and allies then came together behind an Open Letter to world leaders, signed by figures including Will Poulter, Forest Whitaker, Úrsula Corberó, Gillian Anderson and Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Dr Denis Mukwege and Kailash Satyarthi.
During UN General Assembly week, Project Everyone convened ministers, survivors and young people for a high-level dinner, helping build momentum towards the Ministerial Conference in Colombia where governments announced more than 100 commitments to protect children from violence.

“Working with Project Everyone met two important metrics; ‘impact’ and ‘joy’. A creative, strategic and hard-working team helped drive forward our objectives on ending violence against children in ways that we could only imagine and made a critical contribution to our campaign success.”

The challenge
Progress needs champions.
The Global Goals set an ambitious plan to reduce inequality and improve lives around the world. But achieving them requires progress to be measured, governments to be held accountable and new generations of leaders to be given a platform.
The challenge was to turn data into stories people could connect with and bring together those with the ideas, influence and determination to accelerate change.
The idea
Celebrate progress and the people making it happen.
In 2017, Project Everyone partnered with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to launch Goalkeepers, a multiyear campaign dedicated to accelerating progress towards the Global Goals.
Combining powerful storytelling, data and partnerships, Goalkeepers shines a light on where progress is being made, where the world is falling behind and the people developing solutions to some of its biggest challenges.
what happened
Data, stories and solutions came together on a global stage.
At the heart of Goalkeepers is an annual data report tracking progress towards the Global Goals, alongside awards, practical ‘Accelerators’ and a growing community of changemakers.
Each year, Project Everyone helps bring Goalkeepers to life during UN General Assembly week in New York through an event combining statistics, storytelling, demonstrations, music and culture.
Speakers have included Barack Obama, Malala Yousafzai, Jacinda Ardern, Graca Machel, Amina Mohammed, Trevor Noah, Priyanka Chopra and Queen Rania of Jordan, bringing global leaders together with innovators and advocates working to ensure no one is left behind.
